Learn more about the New A+ Exams

a plus practice test

The CompTIA A+ Core Series requires candidates to pass two exams:

Core 1 (220-1001) and Core 2 (220-1002)

The new A+ exams were introduced on January 15th, 2019. Candidates are required to pass both 1001 and 1002 to exams to earn the A+ certification. CompTIA A+ was first launched in 1993, and since 2001 has been refreshed every three years to ensure the topics covered keep pace with what’s happening in the Information Technology Field. Feedback from employers, subject-matter experts and IT pros currently working in the field help us in keeping the A+ exams current. The Job of an A+ technician covers wide areas as compared to what was required in 1993 when the exam was first introduced in the IT World. Employers hire certified A+ technicians as help desk technicians, technical support specialists, customer service reps, hardware/software maintenance technician and other jobs related to CompTIA A+. Here are some of the details for both the exams.

The cost for each exam is $219 USD. We recommend buying vouchers from a known company as they offer better options as a combo price for the exams. Many exam vouchers gives you the option of retaking the exam in case of a first unsuccessful attempt.

CompTIA A+ 220-1001 covers mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing and network troubleshooting. CompTIA A+ 220-1002 covers installing and configuring operating systems, expanded security, software troubleshooting and operational procedures.
